Happy Halloween

So Halloween 2005 has come and past, pretty quickly in my opinion. Hope you enjoy the candy and whatever other crap you've gotten.

Btw, over the weekend I broke my finger from a motorcycle accident lol (it was my first time), so now im temporarily down a thumb. Its not too bad, just really swollen. To tell you the truth I was more worried about the bike breaking (because if I broke the bike that I would suck for my cousin since it was his bike). But all in all it turned out okay. I ended up riding up like 5 hours and it was my first time. Guess I just went a little too fast. So gym class tomorow should be entertaining (football), trying to catch the ball with one hand.

Not too much going on lately, the world of technology has been pretty quiet.

Cool internet program for PDA's/Handhelds

I recently got an old school Palm m105 and figured I wouldn't be able to do much with it. But I was looking around and found AvantGo, a sweet program where you can download web pages to your handheld everytime you sync with your computer. It even supports RSS feeds and just about any webpage you can think of, pictures included. The best part is that its totally free.

Ever wanted to stare into the sun?

Check this Sun webcam out, its an ultra-violet camera aimed at the sun, updated every several minutes.

The swirling green color is an image of the sun's atmosphere. This atmosphere, known as the corona, is a layer of intensely hot gas ranging from around 1.8 to 3.6 million degrees Fahrenheit. The corona, which is approximately 1.5 million degrees, doesn't actually look green to the naked eye — NASA's imagers simply assign the color green to images that are approximately 1.5 million degrees.

Yahoo and MSN merge IM services

Two of the most popular instant messaging clients that both share 44% of the IM market announced plans to combine the two services to allow users of both messenger services to send messages seemlessly between each other. The most popular client AIM has just about as many members as Yahoo and MSN combined which means that the Yahoo-MSN messenger network will now be able to compete with the AIM super network.

Not many details were released only that there were talks between each of them. There is no set date or even a certainty that it will happen.

AIM buddy list limit is now 500

Tales of Running Man (an AIM developer's blog) reports that AIM has raised the buddy list limit to 500. Compared to other MSN Messenger (150 limit) and Yahoo Messenger (300 limit), 500 people is a hell of a lot of people. I don't think I even know 500 people to begin with.

They also have come up with a new logo.

XP SP3 confirmed

Although Vista is the main priority for the developement teams at Microsoft, they are still focusing some attention on XP. It is still unsure what will be packed with this new update but I'm sure it will be mostly security based.

The last service pack came out last September and provided not only many security updates but many new visual and recognizable differences too such as the security center.

African water hole webcam

Very cool live webcam provided by National Geographic of an African water hole. You'll need the latest version of real player and from the looks of it this doesn't seem to want to work well with Firefox.

PEAK VIEWING PERIOD:

7 a.m.-Noon Botswana Time

And in September as Mashatu moves into its summer season, Pete's Pond will see increasing traffic in the afternoon hours from about 4-6 p.m.

I'm watching it right now and although there aren't many animals or birds the sound of the birds and crickets can be heard quite well.
